About The Authors

Susan (marketing executive) and Kevin (musician/composer) McCourt, who love critters large and small, are the founders of Project OneSong, a non-profit humane education program that teaches at risk youngsters empathy and compassion by introducing them to sanctuary animals.

They are longtime supporters of the Performing Animal Welfare Society’s three sanctuaries outside of Sacramento, California, where they lead field trips of teen-agers from South Central Los Angeles. For most of the kids, it’s their first trip away from the neighborhood and their first glimpse at rescued elephants, tigers, bears and other exotic animals. A substantial portion of the proceeds from the sale of “50 Rules for Dogs: The Canine Constitution” and “50 Rules for Cats: The Kitty Commandments” will fund Project OneSong’s work.

The McCourts — who never miss a Detroit Red Wings game — have shared their Burbank, California home with many beloved cats and dogs. Current residents include a once-feral-now-docile Dalmatian named Sophia Maria Conchita LaRue and her feline sidekick, Josie. This book is dedicated to them, and to all who came before – Casey Dugan, Sampson Elvis, Jake “Boogie Man”, Maxwell Quimby and Roxanne Penelope. You are in our hearts forever!
